I Got Rhythm: The Art of Jazz

Words and Sounds from Last Year’s Party 1975 J.E.Azmi/VZBLYF Collection

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of TRANSART’s Jazz in the Valley, this exhibition brings together a vibrant group of artists whose work resonates with the rhythm, improvisation, and soul at the heart of jazz. At its creation, the art form we call jazz has been a symbol of freedom, resistance, and creative innovation. In I Got Rhythm, the visual arts echo that legacy—layered, spontaneous, and deeply rooted in cultural memory. The work exhibited here forms a rich visual symphony, celebrating jazz and the musicians that create it as both a historical force and a living, evolving art form.    Marline A. Martin, Curator.

Featured Artists: Romare Bearden, Bernie Casey, Roy Crosse, Pauline DeCarma, Jimmy James Greene, Franck Hodelin, Karl A. McIntosh, Omo Misha, Tomo Mori, Donovan Nelson, and Tafa.
